The Hastings Community foundatin will host the first-ever "Give Hastings Day" on May 1st, 2014, beginning at 12:00 a.m. and ending at 11:59 p.m.  Community members are asked to make donations to show support for the local nonprofit organizations that positively impact our lives every day.  The Adams County Historical Society will be participating in this event.  Donations can be made on-line at www.givehastings.org.  The Hastings Community Foundation will also receive gifts from individuals who prefer to make their gifts in person instead of on-line.  People can come to the Foundation office at 800 W. 3rd Street, Suite 232 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.  We are writing and publishing a book entitled "Adams County:  The Story Continues 1972-2022".  This book will continue from where the previous 1,106 page book, "Adams County:  The Story 1872-1972", left off.  Hastings Tribune microfilm will be used for the research of the book.  Our archive has Hastings Tribune microfilm through 1999.  We need to purchase eighty-four reels of microfilm in order to current and then ~ eight reels per year until the completion of the book in 2022.  The microfilm will be available for public use in our archive.  The book will be widely distributed, contributing to the enlightenment of the citizens of Adams County.  Your gift on "Give Hastings Day" will be used to purchase the microfilm to research and write the book.  We are grateful for your support!

Welcome to the website of the Adams County Nebraska Historical Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the historical record of the times and people of Adams County, Nebraska.

the "Birthplace of Kool-Aid".

While you're here please be sure to check out publications available and services we provide.  Also, enjoy scenes from the past in the Historic Photos Slideshow.  History events taking place in Adams County will be listed and updated under the Events section.  Thank you for visiting our site, come back often for updated stories and photos.
